It has become easier than ever to own gold these days
and with the poor performance of stocks and the economy
in turmoil, it has become almost fashionable to admit that
you are parking your cash in Gold.  With the exception of a
few folks buying gold coins and other physical forms thanks
to a barrage of television commercials, most investors buy
gold just like a stock using ETF's.  The SPDR Gold Trust
ETF (GLD) is the most popular and it tracks the gold at
1/10'th the price of an ounce, and is backed up by physical
400 ounce gold bars.  For those less adverse to risk, the
Proshares Ultra Gold ETF (UGL) is designed to double the
    percentage moves.....Read the Full Article
The last year has been a roller coaster ride for stocks in
general, but scarcely has it been more dramatic than in the
semiconductor space.  Over the past three months, one
group of small integrated circuit, broad line and specialized
semiconductor stocks has had an especially harrowing
ride, losing half of their value after doubling during the
trailing twelve months.  Meanwhile, these companies have
turned earnings positive over the past quarter or two.
Valuations coming into existence may have contributed to
the adjustment, but the recent sell off in equities as a whole
has really taken it's toll on these issues, possibly making
them cheap growth opportunities....Read Full Article

Despite being the second largest tax preparation
company in America, Jackson Hewitt Tax Services (JTX)
has recently been reduced to an almost anemic state, and
complete control of the company could be bought for a
mere 15 million dollars.  This decline in value is for good
reason, however, as a nightmare scenario of erosion has
developed over the past year.  The stock is down over 80%
year to date, and with the stock bouncing around the one
dollar level, many are wondering if this is the bottom or if
total annihilation is in the near future.  This makes for an
extremely high risk, high reward investment no matter what
    your time horizon is.
Jackson Hewitt has faced some enormous challenges
of late, many attributable to industry wide concerns, and a
few specific to the company itself....Read the Full Article

    Intro to Penny Stocks
We won't attempt to define the parameters of
what a Penny Stock is, but rather, try and dispel
some of the myths surrounding them and focus on
what our parameters are.  The Securities and
    Exchange Commission requires all broker/dealers
to obtain written acknowledgment from potential

If your not exactly sure what a stock is and how
the price of stocks are quoted, you may want to read
on.  There are millions upon millions of companies
in the U.S. and abroad.  The vast majority of them
are private entities that do not have any stock

    Choosing the Right Broker
Many online brokers are suited quite well for
penny stocks, others, however, are horrible.  The
first and foremost feature to check is share
limitations.  With penny stocks you will be
purchasing as many as a million shares or more at
a time.  A half a penny extra per share over say 1000
    shares doesn't sound like... More
    Minimizing Risk
When the price action of a penny stock is
displayed on a chart in just the right time frame, it
often becomes not just enticing, but exponentially to
good to be true.  To get an idea as to just how risky
buying a Penny Stock could be, let's look at a worst
case scenario, and then focus on how to avoid...

    Hedging with Penny Stocks
Using penny stocks to hedge your portfolio may
be a more viable option than you think.  Traditional
hedging typically involves using complicated options
or derivative securities, and doing it yourself may
    require opening margin, options, futures
commodities and foreign exchange accounts.  All

    So far today,
    the top three
    most heavily
    traded stocks
    in the unlisted
    world are
    bankruptcy or
    recent
bankruptcy issues.  The stocks are Pink sheets
Washington Mutual, (WAMUQ) and Motors Liquidation
Company, (MTLQQ), as well as OTC BB issue Fannie
Mae, (FNMA).  Although normally we are not very
interested in these types of stocks, we thought we
would use the opportunity to take a quick look at the
three fallen giants, and see what, if any value exists in

    Bulletin Board
    issue Heli
    Electronics
    (HELI) issued
    their quarterly
    financial report
    with the SEC
on Friday the 13th, after the bell.  Although this would
generally be a bad sign, for more than one reason,
their results of operation caused a huge spike in the
stock of about 200% by early Wednesday, despite
their being a large float with 266 million shares
issued and outstanding.  Reality set in shortly after as
the stock gave back about half of it's gains.  So where
does the value of this company stand after posting
revenues and earnings that are over three times
bigger than results from previous comparable
    quarters.
The company had revenues of $24,852,753 during
the three months ended June 30, 2010 as compared
to revenues of $7,617,186 during the three months
ended June 30, 2009....Read the Full Story
In an 8-K filed on August 9, 2010, it was disclosed that
Apple (AAPL) secured specific intellectual property rights
from Liquidmetal Technologies (LQMT.PK) in exchange for
a licence fee.  This gives Apple exclusive rights to
commercialize the product in the field of consumer
electronics, while Liquidmetal will retain the right to market
it in all other fields.  The product is Liquidmetal, and it could
help make an extremely sleek and aesthetically pleasing
    IPhone that is virtually indestructible.
The product is currently being used in several forms,
including coatings, powders and alloys.  The specific
technology that Apple will use is a Bulk liquid Alloy that can
